Distributor Spotlight: Young Living Leader Integrates Essential Oils on Medical Mission Trip to Kenya

Aug 26th, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

This is the first article of a series on Young Living essential oils being used around the world to promote wellness.

Leaving the luxuries of her sunny Florida home far behind, Young Living Silver Sue Heath, CRNA, ARNP, CNHP, spends a busy month in the village of Ngoswani, Kenya, each year. Now in her sixth year of essential oil-infused service work, Sue has grown to love the Maasai people more than ever.

“I feel blessed beyond measure to work with, serve, and minister to the Maasai,” said Sue. “They are much like us—just in another culture.”

In this distant land where wild animals are apt to be roaming the streets stands a medical clinic started in 2008 by Sue and Dr. Tonya Hawthorne. With no electricity or running water, only the most basic of health care can be given.

Sue eagerly shares Young Living’s essential oils as part of her caregiving. The Maasai people recognize the natural elements of the oils and embrace their beneficial properties. “The oils are an absolutely vital aspect of this medical clinic,” says Heath. “People walk for miles to come and get the oils applied.”

Relying on her 50 years of experience as a nurse, Sue serves in many capacities in the clinic—from surgical assistant to labor and delivery nurse— but more importantly, she loves being affectionately referred to as the “Oils Mama.” She is well known around the clinic for saying, “I have an oil for that.”

In the next article of this series, we will join Sue for a day in the life at the clinic and discuss which Young Living products she uses with the Maasai.

  • How wonderful! One of the first thought I had when I was introduced to YL was how it could be used to help people in the poorer parts of the world!

  • I love this! My husband and I are in the process of moving to Kenya to do missions work. I am SO excited to use my oils there! This story has really inspired me and has made me even more excited to live there

Essential Oils & Exercise Part 2: Workout/Post-Workout

Aug 23rd, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

This is the second article of a two-part series on how to incorporate Young Living essential oils and essential oil-infused products into an exercise routine. This post will focus on during and post-workout.

Now that you are all warmed up with the pre-workout suggestions found in the post Essential Oils Exercise Part 1, it’s time to begin your workout! When working out it is important to remember three things: technique, hydration, and recovery.

Technique
Proper technique and form help you avoid injury and maximize results. A vital part of proper technique is how you breathe. During aerobic exercises, get your breathing into a pattern; when training with weights, exhale when exerting.

Keep Breathe Again™ close by to help open nasal passages. Know your limitations and don’t overdo it. If you are new to this type of exercise, start out with a basic workout.

Hydration
The importance of staying hydrated cannot be understated. Keeping your body properly hydrated helps flush out the toxins that are released when working out. Adding a few drops of Peppermint essential oil to your water keeps you alert during your workout.

Recovery
Once you’ve finished your workout, be sure to cool down and stretch the worked muscle groups to avoid injury. Drinking Pure Protein Complete™ after a workout delivers much-needed, essential oil-infused amino acids to muscles that have been broken down and worked. Protein also helps build enzymes that help your body adapt to sports that require endurance, such as running or biking.

When your muscles are fatigued, the use of Deep Relief™ Roll-on and PanAway® is encouraged. These essential oil blends should be a must-have in your gym bag and work to help soothe sore and tight muscles. Apply these as desired when you feel discomfort.

Lastly, don’t forget to supplement. Finish off your workout with a 2-oz. shot of NingXia Red® along with True Source™, an essential oil-infused multivitamin packed with nutrient-dense superfruits, plants, and vegetables that will deliver a full-spectrum of bioactive vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to your body. Follow that up with a Slique Bar to minimize hunger cravings between meals and you have the endings of a perfect workout.

Finally, don’t forget your Thieves® Wipes to wipe down machines and to keep yourself and others safe from germs.

We hope this series has helped you discover the myriad ways to infuse your workouts with the benefits of Young Living products. Please visit the comments section and share other Young Living products you like to use when working out!

How to Use Lemon Essential Oil

Aug 19th, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Cold-pressed from lemon rinds, Lemon essential oil has a strong, purifying, citrus scent that is revitalizing and uplifting. It contains 68 percent d-limonene, a powerful antioxidant. Lemon can also be used to enhance the flavor of foods and water and may be beneficial for the skin.

Lemon is also one of Young Living’s most popular essential oils. It is included in our Everyday Oils™ and Essential 7™ collections because it is versatile as well as a great choice to introduce people to Young Living.

Fun Fact: Jean Valnet, MD, estimated that it takes 3,000 lemons to produce one kilo of Lemon essential oil. In his book The Practice of Aromatherapy, Valnet wrote that lemon is a tonic for supporting the nervous and sympathetic nervous system.*  Learn more about Lemon essential oil here.

Tips from Young Living:

  • Use 1–2 drops to remove gum, oil, grease spots, glue or adhesive, and crayon from most surfaces.
  • Combine 2–3 drops with water in a spray bottle to help cleanse and sanitize surfaces.
  • Place a drop on oily skin or blemishes to help balance oil glands and minimize oil production.
  • Add to water or a smoothie for a refreshing pick-me-up.
  • Diffuse to help replenish your mind, body, and spirit.
  • Place a few drops on a cotton ball and put in the refrigerator or trash can to help eliminate odors.

Tips from Young Living Facebook Fans:

“I use Lemon on stains on laundry. It pulls anything out of the clothes, including grease, dirt, etc. Plus, it brightens whites on the clothes lines in the summer.” – Ashley N., YL Executive

“I use a couple of drops in a bowl of water to wash my fruit. It makes strawberries taste amazing!” – Sierra P., YL Distributor

“To give myself a lift, I like to put a drop or two in my palm, rub my hands together, and then inhale the wonderful scent.” – Susan H., YL Distributor

“We had gum stuck to our wood floors. I tried scraping it up with a razor, no good. I decided to grab my Lemon essential oil, put a few drops on the gum, and it immediately came up with ease!” – Niki K., YL Star

“I put three drops in my garbage disposal while running warm water through it after washing supper dishes! Smells great and sanitizes it!” – Tricia W., YL Distributor

“My dog chewed up a black ink pen on our brand-new, light-colored carpet. I immediately put a few drops of Lemon oil on it, let it soak in, shampooed over the top of it, and it was gone! It took very little effort. It just came right out.” – Amanda S., YL Distributor

Essential Oils & Exercise Part 1: Pre-Workout

Aug 16th, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

This is the first article of a two-part series on how to incorporate Young Living essential oils and essential oil-infused products into an exercise routine. This post will focus on the pre-workout.

At least 30 minutes before each workout, it is important to increase the amount of water you consume. Supplement this with your choice of NingXia Red® for added nutrition, NingXia Nitro™ and Slique™ Tea to increase alertness, and a clear capsule with 4-6 drops of Lemongrass essential oil to get ready for your workout. These products work together to help improve energy and endurance and increase thermogenics in the body.

Immediately following this preparation, it is important to warm up the body to prepare your muscles for the workout. If your muscles are sore, gently rub a few drops of Peppermint essential oil onto the affected area to help soothe the minor discomfort. As with any workout regimen, a healthy diet and proper technique will help you achieve your fitness goals.

Recommended Pre-Workout Products:

NingXia Red: NingXia Red’s cascading energy and nutrient-rich formula is a perfect way to prepare for any workout.

NingXia Nitro: NingXia Nitro is an all-natural way to enhance physical performance. Not only does it deliver a unique combination of B vitamins, essential oils, and green tea extract, but it also contains Bioenergy Riobose®, a premium ingredient clinically proven to increase energy, accelerate recovery, and reduce fatigue and muscle pain.

Slique Tea: By providing a rare blend of jade oolong leaves, ocotea, and frankincense powder, Slique Tea is a delicious beverage that provides a natural energy boost.

Slique Essence Essential Oil Blend: Young Living’s Slique Essence essential oil blend contains a unique combination of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, spearmint, and ocotea essential oils that uplifts and energizes.

Lemongrass Essential Oil: Lemongrass essential oil contains high levels of citral, a compound that may support thermogenic activity in the body when consumed.

Peppermint Essential Oil: When ingested, Peppermint essential oil supports digestion and may improve concentration and mental acuity.  When used topically, it soothes sore muscles.

In the next article of our two-part series on essential oils and exercise, we will focus on Young Living products that can assist you during your workout and post workout.

Build Your Business with the Young Living Facebook Service

Aug 8th, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

More and more Young Living distributors are discovering how social media can help build and strengthen their businesses and how easy establishing an informative, relevant, and supportive online presence can be with our new Facebook service! This service, launched at the 2013 International Grand Convention, offers:

  • Engaging, Young Living-related content posted automatically to your Facebook business page three times per week
  • Three content-rich tabs, each of which provides a link that enables your Facebook fans to sign up as a distributor or customer in your organization
  • A choice of many professionally created, Young Living-branded cover photos

The service can add these exciting features to an existing Facebook page or implement them on a new Facebook page for only $59.95 annually. To sign up, visit youngliving.com/facebookservice. There, you will find a brief video that will explain the service in detail.

Here is an example of what your Facebook page will look like with the new service:

What our Members are Saying
Over 1,000 people have signed up for the service so far, and it has received rave reviews. Here are a few comments we have received by e-mail and on Facebook:

“The service has been phenomenal!  It has grown my fan base and has created more free time for me to focus on team coaching rather than finding, reading, and posting content!” – Melissa Poepping, Young Living Gold

“I love it! You have taken a load off of me! Thanks!  Now I have time to tweet! LOL thanks for showing me that, too!” – Helen Shaw, Young Living Distributor

“[It is the] easiest way to boost your business efficiency! And the price is right, too! Thank you, Young Living!” – Devin Cote Bourland, Young Living Star

“I LOVE IT! I have been sharing my page and posting everywhere for others to see and sign up! Got a few into it already!” – Kateeri O’Brien, Young Living Distributor

Facebook Service Tips
If you have already signed up for the Facebook Service, here are a few tips to attract more fans and engagement on your page:

  • For your profile picture, use a photo of yourself or your business logo. This will make your page more professional-looking to current and prospective fans.
  • Make the name of your page unique, so it will stand out. Be sure to use the name of your business or a name that will identify you as a Young Living distributor. For example, you could use something like, “John Smith, Young Living Distributor.” Please do not name your page simply “Young Living” or “Young Living Essential Oils.”  This can make it harder for people to find your page, and they could get it confused with Young Living’s corporate Facebook page.
  • You will have complete administrative rights over your Facebook page after completing the Facebook Service sign-up process. If you see a post from the Facebook Service that does not go along with your social media strategy, feel free to delete the post.  Feel free to also write your own posts to notify your fans of events, announcements, and more.
  • A good rule of thumb is to never post more than 1-2 posts per day on your Facebook page. Any more posts than this may annoy your fans.
  • If you have a personal Facebook profile, invite your friends to “like” your Facebook business page. Send out a post on your personal profile containing the link to your new page.
  • Try using Facebook Ads or Promoted Posts to attract more Facebook fans. You can also set your own budget for how much you want to spend on these ads. For more information, click here.

Recipe: NingXia Red Sherbet

Aug 5th, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

I love ice cream—especially homemade ice cream. Knowing my love for this generally unhealthy treat, I decided to experiment with a healthier option using Young Living products.

Try this delicious recipe for NingXia Red Sherbet:

Ingredients:

Directions:

Mix together almond milk, NingXia Red, Yacon Syrup, Tangerine essential oil, and vanilla extract. If desired, open Life 5 capsules and add to the mix. Add ingredients to an ice cream or yogurt maker. Add the fruit halfway through the freezing process or when serving (this keeps the fruit from freezing solid). I also like to soak the wolfberries in NingXia Red to make them juicier.

Please leave a comment with your thoughts or with any suggested modifications.
