  • Wow….how exciting! I can not wait to try the new and improved version!! I do have to admit I love my Thieves Dental Floss! I have it in my bathroom, in a kitchen drawer, in my car, in my purse and at work! I could not imagine not having my Young Living Thieves Dental Floss!! As for my favorite personal product, Thieves Dentarome Plus tops the chart! It has treated my teeth and gums great and as a bonus keeps my armpits nice and fresh! Love it!!!

  • I love the Thieves foaming soap, so I would love to try the floss!!

  • I love All Young Living products but my current fav for personal care in the kidscents toothpaste simple because my almost 3 year old loves to brush her teeth and I feel great knowing she is using a product that supports her body! instead of having a lable that says if swallowed call POSION CONTROL! What lil kid does swallow toothpaste here and there!! ThankYou Young Living for AWESOME products !

  • I love everything Thieves but especially my toothpaste.

  • I personally love the Thieves Ultra Toothpaste. I’ve received a better “report card” from my dental hygienist since I started brushing with it. Yesterday she told me to continue to do what I’ve been doing because I don’t have as much tartar build up or gum bleeding as before. My gum pockets are mainly 2′s and some 3′s which are great she says! I’m also using the Thieves Floss of course. Can’t wait to try the new version !

Do It Yourself: Essential Oil Infused Foot Bath

May 30th, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Young Living Facebook followers will remember a recent post discussing the combination of essential oils and foot baths. This inspired me to share my personal experiences on the subject.

Allow me start with some background. Each year as the weather warms and I trade in my tennis shoes for flip-flops, my feet become painfully dry and cracked. After discovering this correlation, I began searching for a safe and natural home remedy to moisturize my feet. My solution was an essential oil-infused foot bath. Once I determined the solution, I began narrowing down the hundreds of foot bath variations. I experimented with different foot bath bases and essential oil combinations. The end result was soft, moisturized feet that my wife felt comfortable touching. For optimal results during drier months, I perform a weekly foot bath followed by a moisturizer (I also apply the moisturizer as needed during the week).

Please keep in mind the following combinations worked for me and my test subjects. They are not intended to treat or cure disease. Simply put, they are solutions that have helped me in my quest for soft, healthy feet. It is appropriate, and suggested, to tweak formulas based on your personal needs. As always, we recommend individuals exercise care when dealing with pure essential oils and follow the individual oil label directions.

Directions:
Pour Epsom salt into a glass bowl or container (I prefer a Mason jar). Add your desired essential oils to the container. Stir contents with a metal spoon until the oils are evenly dispersed throughout the Epsom salt. Pour the salt/oil mixture into a container large enough for feet. Slowly pour in warm water (enough to cover your feet). Using your feet, agitate the water and salt until the salt is dissolved. Add AlkaLime® and let your feet soak for 20–30 minutes. Following the soak, pat your feet dry with a towel. (At this point I sometimes exfoliate my feet using a pumice stone.) Once your feet are completely dry, put 1–2 tablespoons of Animal Scents® Ointment in the palm of your hand and add 1-2 drops of your preferred essential oil. Apply the mixture generously to your feet and let it sit for 15–20 minutes. Put on a pair of socks and go to bed.

Foot Bath Base

  • 3–4 quarts warm water (enough to cover feet in container)
  • 1/3 cup Epsom salt
  • 1–2 teaspoons AlkaLime®

Please take a moment to leave a comment with a recipe or blend that you have found beneficial in a foot bath. As an additional incentive, I will randomly choose one individual who leaves a comment by June 3 to receive some free oils that can be used in a future foot bath (a 5-ml lavender, frankincense, myrrh, melaleuca, and Thieves). Good Luck!

What’s Red and Now Contains Grape Seed Extract?

May 28th, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Answer: NingXia Red!

Since NingXia Red® is one of our most popular products, I would like to discuss one of the exciting ingredients in its revolutionary formula: grape seed extract, or GSE. During the reformulation process, Young Living researchers discovered this powerful ingredient, which increases overall health benefits and allows for Halal/Kosher certification, two of their top goals.

Let’s start with the science: GSE is derived from whole grape seeds and is one of the largest natural depositories of polyphenols. In fact, two-thirds of a grape’s phenol count is found in the seed, as opposed to the skin. Unlike other GSEs on the market, NingXia Red’s premium GSE is standardized to a minimum 90 percent total polyphenols and is shown in studies to be superior at supporting against oxidation.

This structurally unique, water-soluble GSE has been selectively extracted to include a higher percentage of lower molecular weight polyphenols, which improves absorption and bioavailability. Its patented,

water-based extraction process ensures the final ingredient remains chemical free.

By replacing grape pomace with a powerhouse GSE, we were able to boost NingXia Red’s ORAC score, add additio

nal lower molecular weight polyphenols, and allow for Kosher and Halal certification. When combined with essential oils and the wolfberry superfruit, GSE plays an important role in NingXia Red’s promise to deliver a delicious, whole-body nutrient infusion for everyone to enjoy.

Sneak Peek of New Thieves® Dental Floss

May 20th, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

With the reformulated Thieves® Dental Floss just weeks away from being released, here is a sneak peek at the benefits of using our newly improved floss every day.

Americans spend more than $2 billion a year on dental care, yet 75 percent still have some form of gum disease. More than 40 percent are completely unaware that they need to do a better job of taking care of their gums and teeth! Given the population, that is a large percentage of people—three out of four—who are unnecessarily walking around with bad breath and bleeding gums.

According to a study on twins in a two-week period of time, “flossing twice a day in addition to brushing reduced gum bleeding—a sign of gum disease—by about 40 percent more than brushing alone.” Although dentists and mothers have been saying it for years, the evidence clearly supports that flossing is critical to healthy gums!

With this in mind, Young Living formulated a newly improved floss to increase effectiveness and performance. Made with stronger fibers that resist fraying and breakage, Thieves Dental Floss will easily glide between your teeth and gives you the added bonus of two layers of essential oils as you floss. Our innovative process saturates the floss not once but twice, locking in double protection to freshen your breath and providing longer-lasting results to promote healthy gums.

To give you more reasons to smile, the new Thieves floss offers a greater value with a 33-foot increase in length. That is 25 percent more floss at no additional cost! This product is an optimal choice for the health-minded who demand effective and safe products at competitive prices, proving that good things do come in small Young Living packages.

Do It Yourself: All-Natural Garden Pesticide Spray

May 16th, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

I’ve never been one to claim I have a green thumb, but one thing I do know is that insects and bugs ruin gardens. A few posts ago, I shared an all-natural way to keep those aerial pests from spoiling our days in the outdoors with a bug spray. This week I’d like to share a way to keep these pests from damaging our gardens. Generally, we use pesticides to deter insects from gardens; prevent plants, fruits, and vegetables from growing fungi; and to encourage growth. However, the in-store alternatives to treat these issues include harmful chemicals that have warnings if the product is ingested, if there is contact with eyes and skin, or even if it is inhaled. So we must ask ourselves: Is this something I want to spray on my flowers, fruits, or vegetables? Unequivocally, the answer is no. So why not use something safe, effective, and chemical free? Here’s a simple recipe to keep your garden growing so you can enjoy truly fresh foods!

Items needed
• Distilled water
• Spray bottle
• Liquid dish soap (biodegradable)
Spearmint essential oil
Citronella essential oil
Lavender essential oil
Blue tansy essential oil
Cedarwood essential oil

Preparation
• Fill an 8-oz. spray bottle with distilled water
• Add 1 ½ tablespoons of liquid dish soap
• Add 3–4 drops of each essential oil
• Mix and spray generously on plants, fruits, and vegetables

For fungus and mildew protection
• Add 4 drops of lemon or orange essential oil to 8 oz. of water and spray areas where fungi and mildew may grow.

Did you know?
• Spearmint essential oil can help deter ants and aphids
• Citronella essential oil can help deter gnats and mosquitos
• Lavender essential oil can help deter fleas, moths, and flies
• Blue tansy essential oil can help deter flies
• Cedarwood essential oil can help deter snails and slugs
• Lemon and orange essential oils can help reduce fungi from growing on plants

Please feel free to share other essential oils you like to use in your garden and any success stories you may have when using essential oils as the safer alternative to harsh chemicals found in pesticides.

Using Essential Oils for Delicious Recipes

May 13th, 2013 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

People often ask me why they should use essential oils in recipes. My question is, “Why wouldn’t you?” We are exposed to massive amounts of toxins in our environment and foods each day. Even the integrity of seeds and farming practices are a challenge for our health. The amount of additives and preservatives in foods and beverages is also a burden to our bodies. So why not add something uplifting to your foods and beverages to support your health?

Using Young Living essential oils in recipes uplifts the aroma and flavor and supports our lives. I usually add essential oils to cold recipes or at the very end of preparation. Young Living takes great care to properly distill these oils, so heating them as little as possible makes sense. I also use essential oils in conjunction with herbs and other fresh ingredients. The result is a fabulous marriage of taste and health-supporting meals, beverages, and delicious snacks!

Five Benefits for Using Essential Oils in Your Recipes
1. Essential oils are delicious in our foods and beverages!
2. They are stable and potent for years. Fresh and dried herbs have a short shelf life.
3. Using oils in the kitchen saves you time and money. Only tiny amounts need to be added to transform your kitchen creations.
4. Oils give you a variety of complex and delightful aromas and flavors.
5. You can travel easily with essential oils and even add them to foods and beverages while you are on the road!

Loquat Fruit Leather with Lemon and Lime Essential Oil

Recipe modified from Essential Gluten-Free Recipes by Tara Rayburn and Mary Vars

Loquats are sweet, tangy, and rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These little jewels usually grow in moist climates and tend to produce large harvests, which makes them great for fruit leather recipes. Young Living citrus oils amplify not only taste but also the nutritional benefits of the loquat. Fruit leather is a great snack for lunches, grab-and-go lifestyles, and gifting to others.

Ingredients:
• 3 cups fresh loquats, seeds removed
• 1 fresh apple
• 3/4 cup organic, unsweetened fruit jelly (we loved apricot)
• 1–2 drops Young Living lime and lemon or tangerine and grapefruit essential oils

Preparation:
• Seed, peel, and puree loquats and apple until lumps are gone
• Add fruit jelly
• Mix well in food processor
• Pour into glass bowl
• Please Do Not put essential oils in the food processor or plastic containers. Oils draw toxins out of our bodies and will do the same with plastic bowls.
• Add your choice of Young Living essential oils.
• Mix well and spread thinly and evenly on parchment paper or a silicon baking sheet and put into your dehydrator for the recommended temperature and time. (Most dehydrators come with a guide sheet with basic temperatures and times for common recipes.)

Tips:
• My Excalibur dehydrator calls for a setting of 135–145 degrees Fahrenheit for about 5–8 hours. Just wait until the fruit leather is mostly dried and slightly tacky to the touch.

• Your climate and altitude may affect the cook time and how much jelly you add. The jelly helps the leather stick together. I live in a desert climate and need to add more jelly. If you live in a humid climate, you may require less.

• When the fruit leather is completely dried, slice pieces with a pizza cutter or cut with kitchen scissors.

• Roll and wrap the fruit leather in unbleached wax paper. You can wrap them individually or as a sheet to be peeled off later.

• Fruit leather makes a fabulous holiday gift. Just put the rolls or pieces in a decorative glass jar, add a ribbon, and voila!

Comment on this blog post for a chance to win one of three sets of Young Living lime and lemon essential oils.
