Fall in Love With Your Heart

Feb 12th, 2014 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Valentine’s Day: the season of roses, love notes, and cupid’s arrows. During this time when we focus on strengthening our bonds with loved ones, may I suggest we look inside to strengthen our hearts? According to the American Heart Association (AHA), a healthy lifestyle and diet are your best weapons for fighting cardiovascular disease and supporting overall heart health. Some basic recommendations for accomplishing these goals include:

Healthy Lifestyle

  1. Exercise regularly—Thirty minutes of moderate daily physical activity should be our goal. Regular physical activity improves cardiovascular risk factors.
  2. Maintain a healthy weight—The AHA suggests a body mass index (BMI) of 18–25.
  3. Avoid smoking— Due to overwhelming evidence for the adverse effects on cardiovascular health, the AHA strongly and unequivocally endorses efforts to eliminate the use of tobacco products and minimize exposure to second-hand smoke.

Healthy Diet

  1. Balance caloric intake—A general rule for accomplishing this is to expend as many calories as you ingest.
  2. Eat smaller portions—The typical U.S. portion size has increased dramatically over the past 30 years; keep this in mind when preparing or ordering meals.
  3. Read the Nutrition Facts panel—Proper education can help you focus on eating nutrient-dense foods.
  4. Incorporate omega-3s—A 2008 study showed a reduction in cardiovascular events by 19–45 percent in individuals who consumed regular amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. It went on to suggest that individuals should consume at least 500 mg per day of combined docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).

I would like to suggest a few Young Living products that may help you in your goals to support your heart health:

  • OmegaGize3 delivers DHA and EPA, Kaneka CoQ10™, and vitamin D.
  • Slique™ products are formulated with unique, natural ingredients to help you attain your individual weight goals when combined with diet and physical activity.
  • NingXia Red® is a powerful, whole-body nutrient infusion of the wolfberry superfruit, a delicious juice blend, and pure essential oils.
  • Longevity™ Softgels are a proprietary blend of fat-soluble antioxidants.

This Valentine’s Day, let’s take a few minutes to focus on our physical hearts and recommit ourselves to living healthier, happier lives.

Conifer Oils from Young Living’s New Highland Flats Tree Farm

Feb 11th, 2014 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

This January Young Living’s newest distillery became operational at the Highland Flats Tree Farm, producing Idaho Balsam Fir, Idaho Blue Spruce, Pine, and Evergreen Essence, among other essential oils. The Young Living conifer family of essential oils provides an aroma that invigorates the senses and encourages healthy emotions.

Here’s the inside scoop on these powerful oils:

Idaho Balsam Fir

Soothe fatigued muscles, uplift moods, promote a sense of well-being, and increase spirituality with Young Living’s Idaho Balsam Fir essential oil. Traditionally, Balsam Fir is used to aid tired and sore muscles and may also help ease discomfort following rigorous physical activity.

Idaho Blue Spruce

Idaho Blue Spruce essential oil has been known to relieve tense and stressed muscles. The woodsy aroma of this oil invigorates the senses and helps open and release emotional blocks, bringing a feeling of balance and peaceful security. Idaho Blue Spruce may help relax, soothe, and calm body and mind. It may also be useful to support healthy skin.

Pine

Pine essential oil has a refreshing, invigorating aroma. First investigated by Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, Pine is soothing for stressed muscles and joints when used in massage. It shares many of the same properties as Eucalyptus Globulus and the action of both oils is enhanced when they are blended.

Evergreen Essence

Evergreen Essence essential oil blend utilizes recycled Christmas trees to create a product that takes you back to nature by combining the scents of a variety of aromatic pine, cedar, and spruce trees. Crisp and invigorating, it refreshes your senses. This seasonal blend, usually available in the winter, changes slightly from season to season.

Overcoming Excuses with Young Living Products

Feb 5th, 2014 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

For most people, finding the motivation to start a new goal or project is easy. Keeping with it is usually where the problem lies. For instance, take starting an exercise program, which is one of the most common New Year’s resolutions. Simply visiting a gym the first few weeks of January shows how easy it is to begin. However, by the middle of February, the crowds have thinned and you no longer have to wait in line for the treadmill.

Whether your excuse is lack of energy, motivation, or desire, Young Living has a myriad of obstacle-removing products. Here are a few of the products I use to overcome my excuses:

NingXia Nitro™ — NingXia Nitro is perfect for those days when you feel you don’t have enough energy to exercise or keep focused on your goals.

Deep Relief— This product is great for post-workout use on tired or sore muscles. It can also be used before your workout.

Life 5— Daily use of Life 5 can keep you feeling your best. Research continues to show that a properly working digestive tract is an important factor in achieving optimal health.

BLM—Packed with collagen and MSM, BLM supports healthy bones, joints, and muscles and is an ideal way to encourage fluid movement.*

Peppermint Essential Oil —If you’re feeling run-down, simply rub a few drops of Peppermint in your hands, cup your hands over your mouth and nose, and inhale the invigorating aroma to awaken the mind and senses.

Believe™ Essential Oil Blend —Write down your goal and place it where you will see it each day. Then, per Mary Young’s recommendation, place 1–3 drops of Believe on your head to encourage feelings of belief and faith that you can accomplish your goal.

To publicly declare your motivation, please comment on this blog with your current goal or resolution. We will randomly choose three lucky individuals to receive an essential oil of your choice (up to $70 wholesale value)!

How to Use Lime Essential Oil

Feb 3rd, 2014 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Young Living’s Lime essential oil has a wide variety of uses. Aromatically, the pleasant citrus scent is invigorating and may help promote mental clarity and encourage creativity.* Topically, Lime provides antioxidants to the skin, which may reduce dark spots due to aging and acts as an insect deterrent.* Taken internally, Lime supports a healthy digestive system and may aid in weight management. One of most versatile uses for Lime essential oil, however, is for cooking.

Before adding Lime or any other Young Living essential oil to a recipe, start by adding half of a drop (put a toothpick inside the oil bottle orifice and stir the toothpick into the recipe) and then add more to taste. Because it’s so highly concentrated, you don’t need to use very much Lime essential oil to get the fresh lime flavor that can make your recipes pop. A great idea is to combine olive oil with Lime essential oil and use it as a marinade for meat or veggies. For an extra kick of flavor, you can also substitute Lime essential oil for lemon in many recipes.

Here are a couple of easy recipe ideas:

Delicious Limeade

2 cups crushed ice

1 cup water

Fresh fruit (strawberries, cherries, etc.)

1-2 drops Lime essential oil

Directions:

Fill a blender with ice and water. Add fresh fruit and 1-2 drops of Lime essential oil. Blend and enjoy!

Lime Yogurt Sauce

Young Living Stevia Extract, Yacon Syrup, or Blue Agave (sweeten to taste)

1 quart plain unsweetened or soy yogurt

6 drops Lime essential oil

Directions:

Add all ingredients together and stir. Use the sauce over fruit or dessert.

“Thieves Clean” for a Sparkling Bathroom

Jan 31st, 2014 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Harmful chemicals are too often left on household surfaces in the name of cleaning. Luckily, we have an entire line of Thieves® products formulated with all-natural ingredients that easily replace the traditional chemical clean with a healthy and effective Thieves clean.

This week we are tackling the bathroom—a warm, humid room where germs can thrive. This two-part series will offer a total of six steps that will have your bathrooms Thieves clean in no time.

Let’s get started with the first three steps:

STEP 1: LIGHT FIXTURES, FANS, VENTS, MIRRORS, GARBAGE CAN

Thieves Basic Cleaner Recipe

Mix 1 capful of Thieves Household Cleaner with 2-3 cups of water. Put in a spray bottle clearly marked “Thieves Basic Cleaner.”

Optional Light Fixtures, Fans, Vents, Mirrors Recipe

Mix 1 capful of Thieves Household Cleaner, 5 drops of Lemon essential oil, 1 teaspoon white vinegar, and 3 cups of water. Put in a spray bottle clearly marked “Thieves, Lemon, and Vinegar Solution.”

Checklist

Remove all cobwebs and thoroughly dust ceiling, corners, fans, vents, and light fixtures.

Run a cleaning brush around baseboards and door jams.

Sweep up all dust and debris.

Remove light fixture bowls and clean with either cleaning recipe. Soak if needed.

Spray and wipe off fans and vents with either cleaning recipe.

Replace burned-out bulbs and light fixture bowls.

Spray garbage can or let it soak before wiping clean.

Spray and clean mirrors.

Hint: Place 5 drops of Thieves essential oil on a cotton round and place in your garbage can underneath the liner to keep your garbage can smelling clean.

STEP 2: SINK, COUNTERTOPS, BACKSPLASH, CABINET FRONTS

Thieves Basic Cleaner Plus Baking Soda

Thieves Cabinet-Front Recipe

Mix 1 capful of Thieves Household Cleaner, 10 drops of Citrus Fresh™ essential oil blend, and
1 cup olive oil. Put in a spray bottle and clearly mark as “Thieves Cabinet-Front Cleaner.”

Checklist

Remove everything off of countertops.

Spray sink, countertops, and backsplash with the basic cleaner. Sprinkle approximately ¼ cup baking soda in the sink and any other place you would like more scrubbing action; clean with the basic cleaner.

Wipe down the cabinet fronts with the cabinet-front recipe.

Clean cabinet handles and pulls with Thieves Spray.

Hint: Keep a package of Thieves Wipes on the bathroom counter to wipe down the sink and countertops in between your deep cleanings. We recommend doing this every day.

STEP 3: TOILET

Thieves Basic Cleaner

Optional Thieves Toilet Bowl Cleaner

2 drops of Thieves essential oil blend and ¼ cup baking soda

Checklist:

Pour approximately ¼ cup of baking soda and 2 drops of Thieves essential oil blend directly into the toilet bowl. Stir with a toilet brush and let sit for a couple of minutes before cleaning.

Remove toilet seat if necessary and replace once the entire toilet is cleaned.

Spray and clean around the toilet seat and rim with the basic cleaner.

Thoroughly clean the toilet inside and out, especially around the outside bowl.

Use Thieves Spray to clean the toilet knob.

Hint: When replacing toilet paper, dab 3-5 drops of Thieves essential oil blend on the inside of the cardboard roll (not on the paper).

Please share any cleaning tips or Thieves recipes you have found successful. We love hearing from you!
