Make a Creepy, Crawly, Healthy Halloween Treat!

Oct 19th, 2015 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Treat your Halloween guests to a tasty fruit creation: Spiderlicious! This simple and healthy treat is fun to make and is great for decoration or as a snack. Here’s how to get him ready for your spooky party!

  • Wooden kebab sticks
  • 1 dark plum
  • Black grapes or blueberries; green or red apple chunks, green or red grapes, or most other tasty fruits will work, too.
  • Plastic googly eyes
  • Nut butter

  1. Use Thieves® Fruit Veggie Soak to clean fruit.
  2. Gather 16 equally sized wooden kebab sticks. Break them into 4-inch sections.
  3. Skewer grapes on eight of the sticks so that the grapes touch, leaving one grape covering one end as a connector, but leaving the other end bare to poke into the plum.
  4. Repeat on the other eight sticks, inserting the exposed ends into the joints of the previous set of grape sticks at an angle.
  5. Once connected, poke legs into the plum, with four legs on each side.
  6. Gather two googly eyes and attach to front of plum with your choice of nut butter.

How to Talk to Your Health Care Provider About Young Living Products

Oct 14th, 2015 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Have you ever felt hesitant about bringing up the topic of our essential oil-infused dietary supplements with your health care provider? We want to help you have productive conversations that will ease any nervousness! Using our dietary supplements as part of a wellness regimen is important to any Young Living member, and as with any other supplement or wellness product, we recommend the common sense approach of consulting with your licensed health care provider prior to use.

As you work to address your personal wellness, it’s important that you advocate for yourself. Everyone reacts to and uses our products a little differently, so it’s essential to openly discuss the personal wellness choices you want to make. As you are visiting with your provider, go in with a plan to help you navigate a positive and productive conversation. Remember: Both you and your provider want you to live with wellness and vitality, so don’t hesitate to work as a team!

  • Bring in the dietary supplements you commonly use to your appointment so your provider can look at them firsthand, read the labels, and see their recommended uses.
  • Share your thoughts about the products and what you’ve noticed while you have used them.

  • Seek a provider who has experience and skills in using essential oils and dietary supplements.
  • If given advice that differs from your point of view and/or from the label’s recommended uses, don’t argue or act defensively. Instead, thank your provider for his or her opinion and time.

  • Read labeling on each product with your provider and seek advice that aligns with the label’s suggestions. If you have questions, you can always find additional information on YoungLiving.com under the “Products” tab.

Having open and candid conversations is a simple way to share perspectives, emphasize teamwork, and provide information. By using these tips, you can learn to feel comfortable discussing how you use Young Living products to support the most optimal and wellness-focused life possible!

Rise and Shine: Upgrade Your Morning Routine in Three Easy Steps

Oct 12th, 2015 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

Set the stage for a great day by changing up your morning routine! Whether or not you’re an early riser, you can maximize your morning by taking the time to prepare for your day in the right way.

How often do you feel like your day started on the wrong foot? Some days your whole morning can seem unproductive and rushed, leaving you feeling weary and flustered—even before lunch. Here are three suggestions that can help you find your center and give your day the great foundation that it deserves.

However you like to work up a sweat—whether it’s kickboxing, yoga, weightlifting, running, or even a brisk walk—morning may be your best time to do it. Not only is it easier to make time for the gym in the morning, before your day’s other priorities crowd in, but it also helps you start the day feeling invigorated. A morning workout is just one healthy choice that can help motivate you to make other healthy choices throughout the day. Need some ideas to make morning fitness work for you? Try these:

  • Go to bed early. Both a full night’s sleep and establishing good fitness habits are important.
  • Use NingXia Nitro™ for a wolfberry-infused essential oil boost before you get moving.
  • Listen to energizing music.
  • Get outside and go for a morning walk; bring a pet or a friend with you.
  • Practice exercises like morning yoga, which can help you stay grounded through your morning.

Planning a simple, delicious, healthful breakfast makes it easier to get up and provides crucial energy for your busy morning. Depending on your body and needs, you may want to eat breakfast before or after exercising. Either way, don’t skip out on the most important meal of the day!

  • Make sure your breakfast includes plenty of fiber, such as oatmeal or whole-grain toast.
  • Include a serving of fruit. Blend a handful of raspberries into your Pure Protein Complete™ shake or enjoy a slice of cantaloupe with toast.
  • Have trouble remembering to take your daily Inner Defense™, Life 5™, Master Formula™, or other Young Living supplement each day? Make a habit of taking them with breakfast.
  • Have a glass of water first thing in the morning to help hydrate your body after sleep. For a burst of citrus flavor, add a drop of Lemon or Grapefruit essential oil.

Your emotions in the morning can help set the tone for the rest of the day. When you’re feeling positive, generous, grateful, and inspired when you wake up, those feelings can change everything, from how effectively you work to how long the wait at the post office feels.

Click to try this relaxing breathing exercise.

Not feeling positive, generous, grateful, or inspired? Try and chart a new course for your morning with a few simple exercises. First, try this simple breathing exercise to refresh your perspective and improve your sense of relaxation. Second, set your intention for the day by completing this sentence with a word that fits for you: “I want to feel _____ today.” Some examples to get you started include: calm, joyful, grateful, helpful, relaxed, in control, balanced, accomplished, and at ease. Find the word that fits your intentions for the day and make it your mission to experience it!

Keeping Your Healthy Lifestyle Through the Holidays

Oct 7th, 2015 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

The holiday season is known for its joyous atmosphere, family get-togethers, and parties galore. On the flipside, the season is also known for its busyness, cramped schedules, and unhealthy snacks. Factor in dropping temperatures and decreased daylight, and you may quickly find your wellness routine in decline.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare now for a more enjoyable holiday season:

  1. Share the Love

Instead of giving sugar-filled cookies to the neighbors, try giving them sock-drawer sachets infused with your favorite essential oils! Give your coworkers a bottle of Thieves® Waterless Hand Purifier for their cubicle or make Mom some homemade Lavender bath salt. For a resource full of gifts for the holiday season, be sure to check out our 2015 Holiday Catalog. The possibilities are endless, heartfelt, and last much longer than a few bites of baked goods.

  1. Make Time for Yourself

Relax and recharge your batteries with a hot bath and a good book! Add some Tea Tree, Ylang Ylang, and Lavender oils for added luxury and a relaxing aroma. You could also get a massage, go for a drive, or find a quiet place to meditate. Taking care of yourself, if only for a few minutes, can make all the difference throughout the season.

  1. Take a Walk!

Be sure to get your heart rate up for at least 45 minutes, three times per week. Nothing beats a nice long walk when you’re stressed and need some alone time, but feel free to invite your family along! Plan ahead and make your exercise a priority to keep your body in tip-top shape.

  1. Swap it Out

Line your shelves with good food choices so you aren’t as tempted to indulge in unhealthy treats, then plan your holiday menu with nutrition in mind. Whenever possible, try to swap out traditional ingredients with Young Living products. Some of our favorites are:

  • Blue Agave instead of white sugar
  • Chocolate Deluxe Pure Protein Complete™ powder in lieu of some of the flour and cocoa in brownies
  • Einkorn Flour in your dinner rolls instead of white flour
  • Natural herbs, spices, and essential oils to flavor your food instead of salt
  1. Shop Early!

Do your holiday shopping now to make sure you aren’t unprepared! Make sure you have a few of the basics on hand to start the holiday season off on the right foot and keep going strong through the new year:

What are some of your favorite ways to incorporate nutrition into the holidays? Let us know in the comments!

Hosting Your Young Living Holiday Party

Oct 5th, 2015 | Category: Young Living Product Blog

No matter what time of year it is, celebrating the holidays is always a great way to bring people together! Whether your party’s theme is fall harvest, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas, hosting a holiday party is a casual and fun way to introduce your friends and family to Young Living. Read on to discover a few of our ideas for a night full of games, food, and drinks with a distinct touch of essential oils.

Party Game Ideas

Party games are a perfect way to bring people together in a fun, energetic way. Here are three classics to consider for your party:

1. Charades: Divide your guests into teams, taking turns silently acting out clues. These season-appropriate prompts will help keep your party on-theme.

  • Fall harvest: Raking leaves, acting like a turkey, playing football
  • Halloween: Trick-or-treating, carving a pumpkin, walking through a spider web
  • Thanksgiving: Baking a turkey, reenacting the first Thanksgiving, making stuffing
  • Christmas: Caroling, opening gifts, decorating a tree

2. Musical pass the parcel: Wrap a gift in newspaper. Add several more layers of newspaper with a treat between layers. Pass the parcel from person to person around a circle while music plays. When the music stops, the person holding the parcel opens a layer. Repeat the process until the prize is unwrapped, and the holder gets to keep it!

3. Melt the ice cube: Divide your guests into teams (the more teams, the merrier!). Begin by giving each team an ice cube and shout “go.” The first player of each team picks up an ice cube and tries to melt it as quickly as they can by rubbing it between their hands or their clothes—no stomping, mouths, or tools allowed. Players on the same team can pass the ice cube back and forth, and the first team to melt the cube (or tray of cubes) wins!

Drink Ideas

Drinks provide an elegant touch for any party. No matter what you choose to serve, discussing current events and clinking glasses is an unforgettable part of any get-together.

1. NingXia Red®: Create your own Club Red by serving chilled NingXia Red along with an assortment of oils that your guests may add to their drinks. Make your own signature cocktail to impress your friends and amaze their taste buds.

2. Wolfberry Tea: Add dried wolfberries to simmering water and steep for 5 minutes before serving. Add a drop of an essential oil (Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Ginger, and Orange are all great options!) to your warm tea before drinking. Don’t forget to eat the hydrated wolfberries when you’re done! To add a cozy touch, try out our new Wolfberry Tea set featured in the 2015 Holiday Catalog.

Food Ideas

Food has the transformative power to elevate a party from good to great. Keep a few of these on hand while hosting and your guests will have something to talk about all year round!

1. Finger sandwiches: Sandwiches are easy to make in advance and can go a long way when cut into two-bite portions. Try baking Einkorn Flour bread for your sandwiches to give them a healthy (and tasty!) treat.

2. Cheese board: Prepare a world-class cheese board by arranging a variety of cheeses, crackers, and seasonal fruits. Add a selection of condiments such as mustard, Blue Agave, or jam to really impress your guests.

3. Veggies and dip: Is there a more perfect party food than dip? Add a tiny drop of Lemon or Rosemary essential oil to your favorite hummus or dip recipe to add real depth of flavor that will keep them coming back for more. Serve with bite-size raw veggies such as celery, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes, and peppers.

Diffusion Ideas

Whatever you’re celebrating, diffusing an essential oil (or blend) at your party will create an atmosphere that’s inviting and warm. Here are some seasonal favorites that will serve as the perfect complement to your festivities:

Sharing YL Ideas

If you’ve included any essential oils in your recipes, proudly display them as part of the layout. This is also a great way to subtly inform your guests which oils have been diffusing throughout the night. You can also keep a few copies of the 2015 Holiday Catalog in the house for guests to look through between activities, which is a great reference to have when you’re inevitably asked what made your party so memorable!
